Position Overview & Specifications
We are a leading European manufacturer of aerosol and consumer chemical products and are based within 10 miles of Manchester city centre.
There is currently an opening in our R&D Laboratory for a Formulation Chemist to assist in cost saving projects. The successful candidate will have experience in formulating products for the automotive, retail and general industrial sectors. Experience in some or all of the following product groups would be advantageous: Coatings, Lubricants, Cleaners and Adhesives, as would knowledge of ISO 9001 systems.
Key functions:
- Development of new and innovative products in line with current and impending EU legislation.
- Technical support for existing customer base, consumers and in-house production departments.
- Reformulation and improvement of existing products.
- Generation of product SDS, and formulating products to CLP.
- Writing of reports and presentations.
- Evaluation of alternative raw materials.
- Product Testing and analysis.
- Cost Benefit analysis and cost savings
Key Qualities:
- Proven practical experience of working in a laboratory environment
- Excellent people skills with the ability to work with an experienced R & D team.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Passionate, with a hands-on approach, can-do attitude.
- Proven ability to maintain high standards of work and attention to detail.
- Demonstrable planning, organisation and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work proactively and under time constraints.

The ideal candidate will have HND, BSc in Chemistry or related discipline or have at least five years relevant experience.

Salary: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
