Location- Hexagon Tower Manchester

Salary - £25,000-£35,000 DOE

Jackson Hogg are pleased to be supporting a speciality chemical company in their search for a Synthetic Research Chemist. The Chemist will be responsible for the synthesis and development of speciality chemical products.

This is the perfect role for a newly graduated PhD Chemist or mid-level candidate with a strong background and understanding in organic chemistry.

Due to the busy team, the client is looking for someone to be hands on in the lab and take leadership on lot of the chemical synthesis.

Responsibilities:

· Work independently on research projects in the laboratory, developing new speciality chemical compounds for the company product portfolio.

· Devise synthetic routes to, and design novel speciality chemical products and intermediates.

· Research new chemical processes to maximise yields and purities of intermediates and existing commercial products.

· Carry out practical synthetic chemistry to manufacture speciality chemical products ranging from gram to kilogram scales and assist in technology transfer to other manufacturing locations.

· Assist in running the R&D laboratory, including general lab maintenance, waste disposal and stock management.

· Accurately record, report, and communicate practical synthesis work carried out.

· Carry out COSHH assessments and adhere to good and safe lab practices, including the Laboratory Safe Working Code

Required Experience

· Degree in Chemistry

· Experience working in synthetic chemistry research laboratory.

· Experience of multi-step chemical synthesis

· Experience of designing new synthetic routes to novel chemical compounds

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £25,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
