Position Overview & Specifications
The post is funded by Action Medical Research and Borne for 3 years and is full-time and available immediately.
Our laboratory, based at Imperial’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Campus, focuses on how immune cells in the mucosal lining of the uterus (called the decidua in pregnancy) are involved in physiological processes of pregnancy, and what happens when these go wrong.
Duties and responsibilities
You will be responsible for delivering a project which will use clinical samples to address the hypothesis that human labour is initiated by an immune signal in the decidua. You will investigate this by isolating immune cells from donors at term (in labour or not in labour) and using flow cytometry and cell culture techniques to compare their number and ability to produce chemokines.
Essential requirements
- A BSc in Cell Biology, Immunology or a related subject
- Experience in basic molecular and cell biology techniques (DNA/RNA purification, cDNA synthesis, PCR, Flow Cytometry)
- Experience in mammalian cell culture
Further information
This is a full time and fixed term post for 3 years from the start date. You will be based at the Charing Cross Campus.
