Position Overview & Specifications
Description
You will be required to complete training records and generate corrective training plans to ensure the fleet meets with current training requirements set relevant standards, maintaining compliance.
You will require a strong understanding of handling training samples and prevention of cross contamination to ensure correct training is being conducted and longevity of samples.
Additional duties will also include the training of new dogs.
Place of Work-Normally at Farndish but will be required for training at all locations nationally.
- Previously been an operational detection dog handler (Explosives Police/MOD trained).
- Demonstrable experience in training detection capability
- Computer literate.
- Clear communication skills.
- Full UK driving license.
- 5-year checkable history
Desirable:
- NCTAS Accredited Instructor.
- NASDU Accredited Instructor.
- Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET).
- Recognised Industry or Role related Instructor Qualification
Role profile:
Assist in training handlers to appropriate licensing standard.
Assist in the train new dogs to licensing standard.
Provide support to handlers on operational deployments with on the job training.
Assist in refresher/continuation training to operational teams when required.
Carry out demonstrations as required.
Assist with the selection of potential search dogs.
Provide written and verbal reports outlining training needs to the Operations and Training manager.
Provide performance reports on teams in training.
Ensure health and welfare of dogs is maintained to company standards.
Liaise with police training schools.
Maintain and ensure safe handling of training samples.
In the absence of the Training Manager carry out their duties.
Drive company vehicles as required.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Carry out risk assessments as required.
Carry out checks on handler’s kennels, vehicles, equipment, and vehicles where required.
