HSBC Market & Securities Services (MSS) provides comprehensive global, regional and domestic fund services including fund administration, global custody and sub-custody settlement and services.

We are currently seeking a professional to join our team in the role of: Data Privacy Controls Steward.

The successful individual will support in reducing data privacy risks and driving adherence to the Global Data Privacy, Data Management and Group Records Management Policies across MSS Globally.

The role will require working closely with other strategic initiatives, important to the future growth of MSS.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with global MSS colleagues, to devise and implement appropriate records and information governance controls and risk mitigation actions
  • Assisting in developing, managing and maintaining data standards, policies and methodologies in line with Group Data Privacy and Records Management Policies
  • Supporting the global development and delivery of data privacy and protection controls based on data policies to ensure the compliant use of data and information across MSS
  • Assisting with the delivery of remediation programmes, and working to strict audit and regulatory timelines to meet the needs of the business and ensure compliance
  • Managing and moderating the monthly MSS Data Privacy Governance meeting
  • Providing support and subject matter expertise on behalf of MSS for Data Protection Officers, Group Data Privacy Legal teams and Group Data Services and others relating to data privacy risks and issues
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • A strong background and proven history of working within Data is essential and a thorough understanding of Privacy is highly advantageous
  • An understanding of how to implement a Risk and Assurance Framework is ideal
  • Knowledge of GDPR and/or PECR regulation and other Data Privacy Laws and Regulations is also beneficial
  • An excellent understanding of how personal and corporate data is managed in line with Data Privacy Laws and Regulations
  • Proven track record of taking ownership / responsibility for work and be comfortable working independently in a fast moving environment with competing and rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to identify and propose solutions to mitigate data risks proportionally based on the materiality of each risk
  • Strategic thinker with a flexible approach and ability to look at the bigger picture

The role has a hybrid working pattern allowing for home based and office based working out of HSBC offices in Edinburgh.
