Position Overview & Specifications
- Maintain the condition of the work site, materials and equipment
- Adhere to health, safety, environmental & quality practices in the workplace
- Prepare for and undertake planned and some unplanned defect maintenance on Hitachi rolling stock assets
- Confirm that traction and rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications by the use of engineering processes and techniques
- Prepare for and undertake the removal and replacement of traction and rolling stock components
- Modify or manufacture traction and rolling stock components by material removal using hand tools
- Assemble traction and rolling stock components using engineering processes and techniques
- Install new traction and rolling stock components using engineering processes and techniques
- Identify, assess and rectify defects and discrepancies on Hitachi rolling stock assets
- Carryout repairs to traction and rolling stock following technical scopes of work.
- Provide operational support to users of Hitachi rolling stock assets
- Assist with operational problems as they arise.
- Keep Equinox record system up to date with clear and concise information of work carried out.
- Support good house-keeping and waste management initiatives
- Develop professionally and support good working relationships
- Learn new skills in accordance with Hitachi’s new business demands as required
- Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel as required to complete the duties of the post
- Assist as required
- Network Rail Sentinel PTS (Training will be given if required)
- Ability to carry out task based maintenance by following instructions and fault finding
- Depot Protection (Training will be given if required)
- Working at Height will be required
- Manual Handling
- M & E ONC or served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines
- Engineering based NVQ level 3
- Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
- Good team worker
- Previous experience working within the rail industry on modern rolling stock.
- Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Equinox
- Moveable plant
- Train Driving
- Train Movement Depot Protection
- Driving Licence
- Use of powered plant and tooling
