Position Overview & Specifications

Site Services Officer

Full Time, 37 hours/week (52 weeks)

Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 3.00pm

Key Purpose

Working on the Site Services team, supporting with general maintenance and IT issues. Providing set up for assemblies, lessons, exams and events. Delivering packages around the school and carrying out repairs and maintenance.

The successful candidate will be asked to apply for an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Opening the site.
  • Set up of rooms, assemblies and exams Halls including laying out large numbers of tables and chairs.
  • Responsible for all activities associated with the hiring of facilities and resources, including cleaning, maintenance and handyman duties under the direction of the Site Manager.
  • Carryout daily, weekly, monthly H&S checks including water temperature, fire extinguisher etc.
  • To report emergencies in the case of faults to relevant contractors and keep the Site Manager/Business Manager informed.
  • To maintain the security of the premises including checks on the security lighting and fire and burglar alarm systems.
  • To undertake regular basic inspections of the site and buildings and report any maintenance or improvement requirements to the Site Manager/Business Manager in line with MAT procedures.
  • To undertake minor improvements including painting and the erecting of shelves/notice boards, including repairs to locks hinges and sinks, or any other minor repairs within their capabilities as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • To undertake maintenance of the grounds of the school and ensure the tidiness and upkeep of paths, drives and other hard surfaces, for example, removing leaves and litter, emptying of field bins, keeping the orderly appearance of the grounds including during winter. To keep paths, access points and entrances free of snow and ice, by gritting, to ensure safe passage as set out in school policy.
  • Where applicable to assist in the co-ordination of school lettings within the schools lettings policy and in liaison with the Site Manager including opening and securing the site for lettings - when applicable.
  • To check and prioritise faults on the site help desk and make necessary repairs as required.
  • To undertake all H&S checks as required under the MAT policy including Fire alarm, emergency lighting and any others as asked for by the MAT/Academy.
  • To undertake portering tasks as required, including setting up and clearing away furniture, receiving and distributing deliveries of goods and equipment, making sure classrooms are ready for the start of school, including setting up of halls for exams or assemblies as required
