Position Overview & Specifications

What you’ll be doing

Project managing the production of all Hachette Children’s audiobooks, from initial acquisition through to publication, the Audio Editor is an integral part of the team, representing the audio team at business-critical internal and external meetings. Key to the role would be managing various stakeholder relationships, liaising with studios, audio narrators, editors, authors and agents.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining accurate production schedule information, and keeping each title running on time and to budget
  • Creating casting briefs, recording briefs, sound effects scripts and minor adaptation of texts to make them appropriate for audio recording
  • Contributing to the audio strategy for HCG and executing that strategy
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and working practices.
Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and proactive, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and multi-task. They will be:

  • Highly knowledgeable about audiobooks and the UK audiobook market, preferably with significant audio publishing experience.
  • Excellent communicators, written and verbal
  • Adaptable problems-solvers, who are able to work independently and think strategically
  • Creative and entrepreneurial, with a positive attitude
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Knowledge of Audacity, Adobe Audition or Biblio advantageous
