Barnard Castle MSAT Process Technologist – 18-month contract (end 2024)

  • Depending on the successful applicant, this role may be offered as an internal secondment or fixed term contract.

GSK Barnard Castle is one of the most complex sites globally in the GSK network. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven, hardworking, team player to join an established & successful technology team.

As a Process Technologist, you will work as part of a team supporting the production area providing a technical service. This will involve provision of a New Production Introduction, troubleshooting, working on technical projects & supply of technical data. Your role will span work undertaken in the laboratory, Pilot Plant & production environments. All work must be conducted in compliance with specified GMP and EHS standards.

In This Role:

  • Comply with all GMP guidelines and all Regulatory requirements, ensuring all documentation is of a standard acceptable to external inspectors (e.g. MHRA/ FDA).
  • Have a direct line report to the relevant Team Lead & provide regular updates on all matters regarding the project(s) you are responsible for.
  • Support Technology Transfer for respective Sterile products from R&D to GSC, including all aspects of product industrialisation
  • Spearhead cross functional teams either for a small project or sub-projects.
  • Understand GPS / Lean principles and with support be able to use the tools and techniques as required.
  • Demonstrate agile thinking and manage and deliver multiple technical priorities
  • Act as a point contact and provide an effective troubleshooting service for the specific production areas of the Product Stream that have been allocated as the responsibility of the Technologist.
  • Manage problem solving and root cause analyses
  • All production, QA, Engineering, and operational planning staff working to be kept informed of identity of the troubleshooting point contact and the role being performed and any subsequent changes.
  • Undertake self-audits on a regular basis, to ensure implementation of the required technical and GMP standards is uniform throughout.

Our Global Supply Chain (GSC) business is responsible for making and supplying our pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical products around the globe. The GSC organisation is involved with every production stage from the infrastructure of the manufacturing sites, supply forecasting, regulatory inspections, and the product’s quality.

To be successful in this role it is imperative that you demonstrate an ability to drive common objective thinking, with a complete focus on providing solutions. You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, work with meticulous attention to detail and have proven experience dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. You will also have worked in a highly regulated industry.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • An enthusiastic approach to pharmaceutical process development and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Knowledge in Unit Operations associated with the API/product and understands the impact of material changes on manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of the structured problem-solving approaches used for all product & process issues.

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Pharmaceutical experience in a technical, manufacturing or quality function
  • Relevant degree or equivalent
  • Industrial experience in a Technical, Science or Engineering discipline covering range of processing formats applicable to Pharmaceutical / Medical Device / Healthcare / FMCG.
