Position Overview & Specifications
The Head of Service role in the community will be pivotal in driving change initiatives and improvements across a range of integrated multidisciplinary services. A focus of the role will is quality and efficiency of care, ensuring it is being provided at the right time, in the right setting, by the right professional, in a way that supports admission avoidance and early discharge from the acute.
Working closely with the Matrons, Clinical Leads and General Manager to agree and deliver a programme of work that includes workforce development, business process redesign, performance reporting, quality and cost efficiency, harnessing the skills and expertise of the team.
Working with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to form project teams
Manage change and be skilled at negotiation and influencing stakeholders, including senior management
Be comfortable in reviewing and analysing quantitative and qualitative data to help inform decisions and action planning
Be able to identify new processes and procedures that deliver benefits, whether quality related or financial
Produce business cases, options appraisals, performance reports and letters to a high standard
Support or lead investigations, respond to concerns and complaints
Working closely with Informatics, Finance BP and HR BP to gain support and advice relating to operational or strategic schemes of work
Understand and articulate the clinical considerations when making or recommending changes
Gain credibility amongst a system wide network of stakeholders and represent the services within your remit to external and internal partners
Community is a subdivision of ICC which collectively represents all the services and professionals that provide care in patients own homes. The team share a positive view and embrace challenges, acting in a very supportive way. The clinical work can be described in two broad categories planned care and urgent care, although colleagues work in a dynamic way that ensures efforts are aligned - making sure all decisions are assessed from the perspective of the patient.

To lead, develop and operationally manage the designated services within the Division.
To ensure the achievement of National, Regional, Trust and Divisional performance indicators, to deliver a
high quality, effective service, where patient experience and patient safety is central.
Responsible for ensuring the services are delivering against key standards and objectives, and are fit for purpose. In particular financial expenditure targets, costs control, CIPS, CQUIN, and activity targets for the services.
Ensuring referrals are triaged and clinical prioritisation of patients is captured to allow for patients to be treated within target.
Lead on the management and continuous monitoring of demand and capacity for services, ensuring any gaps are closed through improvements in efficiencies or investment when required.
Development of effective working relationships with Matrons and Clinical Leads to provide a cohesive leadership team to the services.
To lead the development of a shared vision and values for the services and promote a culture where all staff understand, are involved in and working towards the achievement of Trust and Divisional objectives.
To co-ordinate and lead the delivery of agreed project and change plans across the designated services, monitoring outputs and reporting to the General Manager.
