Gates & Associates is an award-winning Landscape Architecture and Urban Design firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our mission is to “get people outside” and make life better. Our office currently employs 30 professionals, including landscape architects, planners, graphic designers, marketing and support staff. We have a broad range of projects including mixed use, urban design and planning, commercial work, residential communities, park master planning, design guideline creation, streetscape, and civic projects. The Position
We are seeking a smart, versatile, committed, aesthetically oriented individual to join our design team. You will work collaboratively with our design team to create deliverables for the schematic design, design development and construction documentation phases of a project. You will need to apply both visionary and reality-based thinking. The ideal applicant should have strong technical experience, excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills and an understanding of the landscape architecture profession. The person should be a self-starter and desire an opportunity for growth within the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
- The position requires collaboration with inter-disciplinary teams on site analysis, graphics, coordination of site conflicts and construction documents.
- Involvement in all stages of the design and implementation process.
- Preparing presentations and attending client site meetings.
- Preparing the full spectrum of design representation graphics.
- Preparing construction documents.
- Participating in fieldwork and construction observations.
Requirements
- A degree in Landscape Architecture.
- 2-5 years of experience in design practice preparing concept through detailed design documents.
- Strong primary skills in technical and graphic software platforms including AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, MS Suite and similar software.
- Excellent verbal, writing, organization and graphic design skills.
- Exhibits strong initiative and the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and multiple simultaneous projects.
- Strong professional ethics, accountability, and decision-making capabilities.
These responsibilities are typical but are not all-encompassing. Each person is expected to work collaboratively as a team and to perform the duties required to deliver a quality product on schedule, within the project budget and the budgeted hours provided.
Qualification and Skillset
- Bachelor’s degree (Required)

Compensation and Benefits

$65,000 - $75,000/year depending on experience.
