Position Overview & Specifications
General Purpose:
Production forming of metal parts; by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintain quality and safety standards, keeping records as well as maintaining equipment and supplies.
The post holder must be extremely detail conscious and aware of the importance of checking all work i.e. ‘first off’ before carrying on to next level.
Specific activities:
- To ensure maximum efficiency by checking all work i.e. ‘first off’ before carrying on to the next level
- To programme, set and operate on our Press Brake machine
- To ensure consistent high quality of finished product, working within drawing specification
- Maintaining all paperwork, ensuring a good level of housekeeping.
- Ensure machine is maintained and disposal of unusable material in the appropriate scrap bins
- Keeps skills sharp by reading up on machinery features and attending safety and other courses to enhance on-the-job operations
- Keeps a focus on safety by helping others to conduct themselves appropriately around operating machinery
- Works a flexible schedule to keep up with production demand during busy production periods
- Pays constant attention to surroundings to reduce accidents and injuries
- Works cordially with team members
- Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity and quality
- Cleaning regime to be carried out on a regular basis
Essential skills required:
- Experience of working with fabrication equipment
- Good working knowledge of CNC machining and hands on experience of operating CNC machining
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job information packs
- Working knowledge of production manufacturing methods
- Working knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance
- Problem Solving
- Detail conscious with the focus on ‘first time, every time’
Desirable
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ideally has experience of working with flat-bed lasers
- Work experience of using hand tools such as grinders, drill, hammer etc.
Education/Skills
Essential
- ECDL (European Computer Driving License) or equivalent level of IT skills
- Educated to GCE/ GCSE or equivalent
- Manual Handling
Desirable
- Basic Health and Safety
- Continuous Improvements Techniques
- Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
Job Type: Full-time
