Position Overview & Specifications
You'll support the delivery of projects and investigations related to abstraction activities in chalk streams. For example:
- investigations into potentially unsustainable abstractions
- data handling such as analysis and mapping
- sharing and communication of data and evidence
- using your knowledge and judgement to support in assessing the methodology and outcomes of water company investigations
- support production and delivery of the area chalk action plan
- support on drought planning and management
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The role will contribute to the area virtual chalk team and be part of the wider national chalk network.
- a relevant degree or equivalent experience
- knowledge and/or experience of abstraction management, water resources planning or chalk issues
- a self-starter who can deliver key project tasks
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- a demonstration of practical problem solving
- the ability to work on your own and as part of a team
- have knowledge of relevant abstraction policies and environmental legislation
