Front of House Team - Edinburgh Science Festival, full time

We are looking for Front of House Team members to join our Festival Team from 27 March – 16 April 2023!

About the role:

Edinburgh Science Festival is recruiting for committed, confident Front of House staff to work at one of the biggest Science Festivals in Europe.

These are exciting and busy roles, offering a unique opportunity if you are looking to pursue a career in events or hospitality management. We’ll be holding exciting events from Saturday 1 April – Sunday 16 April 2023 (depending on venue allocated) and you will be the face of the Science Festival: assisting members of the public, liaising with box office and dealing with feedback, all to help make our events and venues run smoothly.

About you:

A natural communicator with a cheerful and informed approach. You will already have some front of house or customer service experience. You are able to communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues/ members of the public and have the ability to remain calm under pressure. You enjoy working as part of a team in a fast-paced busy environment and ideally have some festival experience. Experience working with children aged 3-15 and their families is desirable and do tell us if you have a first aid qualification.

Some of our Front of House roles have more senior duties attached to help co-ordinate the smooth running of our events. You will have some management/supervisory experience with a confident, organised and proactive approach, ideally with previous Edinburgh Science or other festival experience for these more senior duties/roles.

All roles will be positioned in one of our venues around the city; either working on our family or adult programme. Full training will be provided in advance.

You should have flexible availability and should expect to work throughout the festival run. Shifts may be allocated at more than one venue and will include weekend / evening work.
