Our Apprentice programme gives the unique opportunity to join us across different areas of our business and undertake nationally recognised qualifications and workplace training whilst working in a challenging and exciting industry.

Dynex offers a 3-4 year Apprenticeship Programme with a dedicated mentor. With guidance, support and help from your line manager and experienced colleagues. You will be able to demonstrate the skills learnt at college and how to apply them in the workplace. Combining one day per week studying at a local training provider and working at Dynex the remainder of week, you will learn the skills you need to become fully qualified in your chosen field and begin your career with a solid foundation of experience behind you. You’ll also earn a competitive wage while you are studying!


THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the IGBT Operations Manager, you will work as part of a small team who will support you as you learn about IGBT Engineering and the daily activities that a Technician / Engineer undertakes. As you settle into your role you will support the team as well as take on individual projects and tasks.

Your Apprenticeship will include:

  • 50% of your time will be spent with the testing engineering team and 50% of your time will be spent with process engineering team.
  • You will be focussing specifically on our IGBT Products from the start of the process to the finished product before it goes out to the customer.
  • You will have the opportunity to work on individual and team set projects, focussed on continuous improvement for i.e. yield and / or processes.
  • You will support with the development of processes and instructions i.e. Operator Instructions.
  • You will spend time with our experienced Test Engineers, looking at reasons for failure, quality issues and yield issues using an array of test equipment in order to identify and report findings.
  • You will also spend time with our experienced Process Engineers, reviewing our current processes and looking for ways to improve how we manufacture our IGBT products for our customers.
  • There will be the opportunity to support and be involved in producing reports and providing feedback to the wider Dynex team regarding analysis and findings.
  • During your Apprenticeship at Dynex, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience, putting in to practice what you learn at college.

ABOUT YOU

We will support and develop this individual throughout the Apprenticeship, therefore would suit someone who is keen to learn, inquisitive and a great team player.

To be considered for the opportunity you require:

  • GCSEs x5 (Grades A to C or 4 or above) Preferred Math’s and Physics
  • Engineering Enthusiast
  • Experience working in a small team
  • Inquisitive
  • ‘Can do’ attitude
  • A problem solver
  • Have an eye for detail
  • Analytical and technically minded.

Please note that, due to safety restrictions regarding working in the fabrication unit and high voltage electrical testing, applicants must be aged 18 or over, or be aged 18 by September 2023.

Some manual handling/lifting may be required
