JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: PART TIME RECEPTIONIST
REPORTS TO: PRACTICE MANAGER
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly attitude to both patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. To help with assisting and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare. Receptionists are the first point of call for patients and our reception does get very busy at times.
Job responsibilities:
- To answer all Telephone calls coming into the practice
- Receiving patients queries and consulting with members of practice team
- To process emails from generic mailbox and prescription requests including E-consult requests and be able to code them daily.
- Process appointment requests for on the day and future appointments from patients by telephone and in person
- Be able to cover all reception positions, when necessary, which would be anytime between the hours of 8.00am 6:30pm Monday-Friday.
- To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
- To work in accordance with written protocols
- Process repeats prescription request in accordance with practice guidelines when necessary
- Dealing with queries from clinicians
- Have working knowledge of telephone, during and after hours
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Preferred previous Customer service or Receptionist / Admin experience in a GP Surgery using EMIS Clinical software.
- Excellent Communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good IT skills
- Preferably live within the E17 regional area.
- Registration of new patients
Desirable
- Flexibility is essential as you would be required to cover colleague’s annual leave and sickness to ensure the smooth running of the GP reception area.
- Previous patient/customer service based role.
