Do you have significant experience as a senior leader in organisational change or programme management? Can you engage and lead teams to deliver great results?

We are recruiting for a new Head of Programme Management. This is a key role in a brand new Directorate and the successful candidate will set up a programme and project management team, combining skills of project and change management, leading this team to set out a clear and comprehensive mapping of strategic programmes and ensuring critical paths and decision making processes are set up and adhered to.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin, has a national network of training, education and engagement teams, and a growing international profile. We have an ambitious strategy, aiming to maximise the impact of rehoming, prevent the types of problems which lead to relinquishment and euthanasia, improve the welfare of dogs around breeding and acquisition, and on a global scale through dog population control and elimination of rabies. The new Directorate of Strategy and Transformation is driving this change and bringing it to life by establishing a coherent delivery plan which clearly sets out the stages of management and reporting across the range of programmes.

In this exciting new role you will work closely with the Director of Strategy and Transformation (DoST) to review the progress of strategic programme delivery and create appropriate processes to manage the whole programme and co-ordinate individual elements. You will also report back to the DoST and the Management Board on strategic programme delivery and impact, as well as leading on the development and support of Programme Boards for areas of strategic development.

You will work closely with Heads of Department and other delivery leads from across the charity to ensure a coherent and comprehensive understanding of the milestones, timelines and resources, as well as change management requirements for each project.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced and inspiring senior manager and an excellent influencer, with extensive experience of leading people and teams to successful delivery of complex projects that may be high risk and/or deliver considerable organisational development and change. You will also have experience setting up a programme management office in an organisation and successfully integrating new processes and skills in project management as part of this process.

In return for all of this, we have a comprehensive benefits package, which includes excellent annual leave and pension allowances, and you will you join a team of highly professional and driven colleagues in a brilliant upbeat and collaborative environment, all with a genuine passion for dog welfare.
