IT Solutions Technician Apprentice Level 3

Digital skills play a big part in our day-to-day now, as well as supporting how we move into the future, using innovation and creativity.

Technology supports all the areas of our operations and decision-making processes.

We currently have a number of Digital roles available:

To fill these roles, we’re going to be holding a matching day on Tuesday 14th March at New County Hall in Truro.

Please note, you do need to apply to be included in the day because of timings and the location of the event is central to support everyone applying. There will be a range of locations and working from home available.

On the day

• You’ll complete some tasks to identify what learning support you need.

• You’ll hear presentations from all of our managers about their roles. This will give you the chance to choose your preferred roles.

• You’ll have meetings with our managers (2-3 questions per manager) to give you both a chance to meet and get to know more about each other.

What you’ll be doing in your role

Our Digital roles provide support to internal and/or external customers, by using tools or systems to problem solve and trouble-shoot routine and non-routine problems. A digital occupation supports clients/customers with their systems. They achieve this through monitoring and maintaining the systems and/or platforms to maximise productivity and user experience.

The roles available will be Fixed Term Contracts for up to 21 months to complete an apprenticeship during your employment with us.

On successful achievement of your apprenticeship, you will be qualified for potential digital roles that arise.

These roles may involve a combination of office and home working. We have various locations available and we’re committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2030, so you will be able to give your preferred locations in your application.

You will be supplied with a laptop and any equipment needed to do the role.

Some positions may be subject to a criminal record disclosure check.

How you’ll do it

You will undertake an apprenticeship standard. To do this, we will enrol you onto a training programme with a learning provider.

Please note, apprenticeships are qualifications to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours. If you already have a digital qualification that is higher than a level 3, you won’t be eligible to apply. Please email hrtalent@cornwall.gov.uk if you would like to check your previous experience and/or qualifications.

Both the learning provider and your manager/team will support your development.

Learning will take place during your working hours.

You may need to attend training at the learning provider’s location, expenses will be paid if this is necessary.
