Position Overview & Specifications

This role involves designing exciting projects to deliver to young people and their educators in Cornwall. There is a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) activity in particular. The role will also involve working with schools and young people around climate issues and reducing carbon impact.


The role involves designing projects with input from stakeholders including young people and employers. Your work will include applying for funding (bid writing, partnership work), delivering and evaluating projects.


You will be part of the Cornwall Education Business Partnership (CEBP) team within the Education Service of the Together for Families directorate. You will also work alongside other areas of the council, for example Carbon Neutral Cornwall Team.


You are motivated to share your experience and knowledge of STEM/Careers with young people and their educators. You have a broad knowledge of general science and understand how it can be embedded into the curriculum, at all key stages, to enhance understanding of career pathways for young people. You have a clear understanding of the employment landscape and opportunities for young people. You are a confident networker and can engage employers to support young people. You work well in a team and enjoy a level of personal autonomy. You are creative, enterprising, persuasive and inspiring. You are able to plan, deliver and evaluate your work robustly. You are a confident public speaker. Bid writing experience is desirable but not essential. You have experience of project management and the ability to develop systems and processes to deliver contracts.


You are a good team member, flexible, co-operative and able to work effectively with others and under pressure. You are effective in improving your own performance.


This role covers Cornwall and your office 'base' will be allocated closest to your home address - Bodmin, Truro or Camborne. You must have the ability to work remotely/independently. You must have your own transport and a full clean driving licence.
