About The Service


The Cardiff Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a multi–agency partnership at the forefront of developing innovative interventions for children and young people aged 10-17 who have offended or are at risk of Justice.


About the job


We are now seeking to employ the following post of Youth Justice Service (YJS) Court Officer.

The successful candidate will work flexibly across the areas of custody, court, bail, remand and resettlement, supporting young people and their families through transitions within the Youth Justice Service. This will include working outside normal working hours, in the evenings and at weekends as required.


What We Are Looking For From You


The successful candidate will work flexibly across the areas of custody, court, bail, remand and resettlement, supporting young people and their families through transitions within the Youth Justice Service. This will include working outside normal working hours, in the evenings and at weekends as required.

The post holder will act as an Appropriate Adult for young people whilst in custody, participate in a courts rota and facilitate packages of support to young people. In all aspects of the role, the post holder will ensure young people are fully informed of their rights and their voices are heard.

An understanding of the criminal justice system as it affects children and young people would be a distinct advantage as would experience of adopting a Trauma Informed Approach.
