Position Overview & Specifications
The Biochemical Genetics Unit provides newborn blood spot screening for East Anglia, together with metabolic investigations for hospitals within this area and further afield. The laboratory team is committed to providing a friendly, responsive and efficient service, and the successful applicant will need to demonstrate their ability to be a team player.
The laboratory has UKAS accreditation and the department is an IBMS approved training laboratory; we are committed to supporting the professional development of our staff. This post will allow the successful candidate to develop transferable skills and experience in various methodologies including tandem mass spectrometry and a range of chromatographic techniques. Previous experience using tandem mass spectrometry is helpful but full training will be provided.
Applications from Trainee Biomedical Scientists who have completed their IBMS Registration portfolio but are awaiting assessment will be considered.
- Undertake testing and processing of biomedical specimens, analysis and entering of results into the HIS
- Work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service
- Supervise and/or train less experienced staff in own area of work and competency
- Maintain and promote professional image of the CUH Trust.
