Position Overview & Specifications

English Lecturer

Brockenhurst College is now looking for an enthusiastic English Lecturer to join our dedicated team on a Part-Time, Permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,048 - £37,582 pro rata depending on experience.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As our English Lecturer you will:

  • Teach across two of the following courses: A level English Language, A level Language and Literature, A level Literature or GCSE English Language.
  • Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records, provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate
  • Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students
  • Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum including blended learning approaches
  • Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank including e resources for the relevant subject/courses
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course
  • Develop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College
    Participate in relevant visits, field trips etc
  • Advise and assist the Head of Curriculum and other team members in all matters related to the delivery of subject specialisms

As our English Lecturer, you’ll ideally have:

  • Degree
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Ability to manage learners and learning effectively
  • Ability to develop effective learning resources
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in this subject
  • Supportive and positive approach to teaching and learning
