A Station Support Officer is required for a Permanent role paying £24,391.58 per annum, with the British Transport Police (BTP) based in Reading.
BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As Station Support Officer with BTP you will be responsible for providing the OIC with administrative support and undertaking duties required to support station needs. You will also be required to provide professional, efficient, proactive and comprehensive administrative support, carrying out general office duties.
As Station Support Officer you will be required to:
- Providing support to OIC to complete the monthly return in line with Corporate Assurance guidance. Acts as SPOC for Corporate Assurance Auditors, assisting with station engagement and collating information when required
- Checking completed front sheets attached to archiving material, Updating KIM (e.g. CCTV archiving). Gathering and submitting archiving material to the IMU on a regular basis via DX (tracked)
- Carries out monthly vehicle mileage and log book checks; Allocates new fuel cards to vehicles, returns old cards to vehicle fleet and updates tracker, confirms receipt of and allocates new log books to vehicles, as part of monthly vehicle check, checks first aid kit and replenishes stocks
- Carry out Health and Safety Inspections, Disseminates H&S information in Police Station/s and signposts to further H&S and Wellbeing resources, carry out DSE assessments, Fire warden, Ensures the H&S Red Book (hard and electronic versions) is maintained and up to date, Raises requests for information/or training with the H&S Team, Wellbeing Champion

- Minimum GCSE grade C in English Language grade C or equivalent qualification or experience
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Good standard of planning and organisational ability
- Ability to remain calm whilst working under pressure, dealing with members of the public or to demanding deadlines, whilst maintaining a flexible approach

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised. The earliest this will be is July 2023.
