Position Overview & Specifications

  • Assisting the patient with bathing, grooming and getting dressed
  • Handling household tasks like grocery shopping and laundry
  • Preparing and serving meals at the appropriate time
  • Administering oral and topical medication under the supervision of medical personnel
  • Providing mental and emotional support
  • Making recommendations to family members and healthcare personnel on the plan of care
  • Organising suitable recreational activities for the patient
  • Collaborating with other health care and social care professionals to provide the best possible care
  • Providing quality support to service users in promoting their choice and independence

Engage with service users and listening to their issues and concerns

Support with meal preparation, household chores, administrating medication, managing finances, assessing community facilities, going shopping, meeting friends, visiting other health care professionals, finding jobs, providing emotional support, personal care, health checks.

Support them to pursue hobbies and interests.

Support with learning of new skills or gaining voluntary services.

Support with social life skills, such as budgeting and paying bills.

Support with accessing community facilities and included in community groups.

Understanding servicer users’ communication needs and adapting your communication to each individual, e.g., sounds, tones, body language.

Working with other professionals, such as doctors, nurses, chiropodist, therapists etc to ensure consistency of support.

Analyzing service users’ needs and drawing up a focused support plan.

Becoming companion to service users and uncovering shared interests, such as hobbies and outings.

Promoting an environment that encourages service users to feel safe and comfortable, thereby meeting their social, emotional and intellectual needs.

Monitoring the service user’s health state.

Assisting other professional in their clinical duties.

Maintaining service users’ personal hygiene and wellbeing.

Ensure that service users are properly fed with appropriate diet and proper hydration.

Communicate and support service users with their relatives, family visits, family functions etc.

Maintaining accurate records and reports.

Support and encouraging staff and colleagues’ in carrying out their duties and responsibility.
