Assistant Team Manager

This is a permanent post

Grade 5 - £38,296 - £46,549

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Birmingham City Council aims to improve the quality of life for the people of Birmingham today, tomorrow and always.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexible person to manage the Out of Hours home care team.

This role in brief consists of:

  • Overall management of the rostering and monitoring system that the team use.
  • All the personnel management of the team which consists of 5 grade 4 managers and 10 grade 3 care co-ordinators.
  • Overseeing the staff rota as the service operates from 6.45am to 10.30pm – 7 days a week and 365 days per year.
  • Managing the acceptance of new packages of home support for the citizens of Birmingham.
  • Ensuring that care is allocated equitably to the team of home care enablement assistants who work across the city in order to provide a reliable customer focused service.
  • Oversee the management of the duty system that the team operate.
  • Telephone Liaison Officer for the home care service.
  • Liaison with all wider council staff.

The majority of the work is carried out using IT systems, so a high level of IT skills is required for this post.

The post will involve hybrid working which consists of home working whilst being able to attend office bases on a regular basis for training, meetings, supervision etc.

The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly and support to cover short falls in the rota on evenings and weekends but will generally work normal office hours.
