Position Overview & Specifications

Field Network Operations Engineer

Full-time Permanent Salary £25,000 - £28,000 DOE

37 ½ hours per week, usually Monday to Friday 9am - 5.30pm (Flexi Hours)

Based at the head office in Stafford Park, Telford

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Setup and install customer telephone systems, routers and other equipment on-site and obtaining the relevant documentation for sign off.
  • Conduct site surveys including hosted systems, door entry, and broadband
  • Handling and prioritising level 2 tickets related to customer faults and achieving resolutions within agreed SLAs (where required).
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing assigned systems in conjunction with colleagues and distributors to ensure timely and effective remedies.
  • End-to-end problem isolation and troubleshooting of service quality issues.
  • Comply with change control procedures to ensure satisfactory conclusion of change requests and minimising downtime.
  • Work closely with the sales order processing team, and other colleagues or distributors, in troubleshooting problems.
  • Complete assigned daily tasks to ensure optimal network performance and end service for customers.
  • Work on special projects as assigned from time to time.
  • Establishing and maintaining IT and digital communication infrastructure, including wireless or LAN networks, and software, including email, user logins and passwords.
  • Adhere to client policies, including but not limited to IT Security and GDPR Policies.
  • Support potential out of hours work that may be required to maintain or upgrade the core network and systems.
  • Undertake any other reasonable requests asked of you to support the business and its operations.
  • Basic training on systems relevant to customer’s needs.

Person Spec

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Understanding of routing protocols (Desirable)
  • Working understanding of Ethernet IP, MPLS, QoS and VPN
  • Installation and implementation of various network devices and cat 5 systems
  • Service restoration for complex faults, technology and solution based
  • Competent in the setup, operation, and maintenance of network equipment and software programmes
  • Able to work closely with network engineers to facilitate proper operation, maintenance, and restoration of high-speed data networks
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record
  • Potentially stay in hotels from time to time for installations further afield.
