Support worker - Full Time contracted hours - Days £10.50 per hour - Jarrow - South Tyneside
Male Support Workers required to suit Service User preference
Ashdown care are an experienced and successful family run company in Gateshead. We are scheduling interviews for experienced Support workers.
You will be supporting a service user in an Independent supported living environment that has been newly refurbished. Technology has been set up around the home to reduce paperwork, which will enable you to engage in meaningful activities.
Within this role, you will be responsible for promoting independence, helping to update the service users support plan to improve the quality of the support users life, supporting the service user to access facilities within the community and assisting with his personal development. Due to the service users behavioural needs it is important that you have some experience with Personality Disorder/Mental Health.

Duties include:
- Helping to maintain support plans to massively improve the quality of people’s lives.
- Supporting the service user with 2-1 support, to meet her needs.
- Teaching the service user new skills to help her become more independent.
- Helping the service user keep in touch with everyone that is important to her, including families and friends.
- Supporting the service user to live independently in her own home. This will include supporting with cooking, household jobs.
Working on a ROTA, including weekends, evenings, bank holidays, sleep ins.
The service user:
- Is an energetic Young Man that likes to spend time outdoors and in the community.
- The Service user can be fairly demanding with staff
Ideal Candidate:
- Positive, enthusiastic with a great attitude.
- Experience in Personality Disorder
- Experience in Mental Health
- Outgoing and passionate about improving his quality of life.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support is essential.
- Proactive and motivated to look for new activities and experiences.
- Someone who is open to learning new skills.
