Position Overview & Specifications
Main Purpose of Job
Responsible for testing of raw materials, blended materials, and finished products. The role will also include undertaking routine analysis of waste streams to assess appropriate routes for disposal.
Finally, undertaking of “ad hoc” test-work to support plant running / process failures will be required.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Ensure all equipment is kept in good condition and stored correctly.
- Ensure all raw materials delivered to site (s) are tested in-line with company sampling plans and procedures.
- Ensure all finished goods including by-products leaving our site (s) are tested in-line with company sampling plans and procedures.
- Ensure all in-process, swales and cooling towers samples are tested in-line with company sampling plans and procedures.
- Prepare all laboratory reagents as required across all laboratory (s).
- Maintain sufficient lab reagent stock and consumable levels and notify senior laboratory technician or manager as and when orders are required.
- Perform calibration and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Participate in general laboratory housekeeping and waste disposal.
- Prepare and package laboratory samples to be shipped off site for external analysis.

- Ensure a thorough knowledge of your Health & Safety responsibilities.
- Always wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Take responsibility for your own PPE ensuring appropriate storage and care.
- Always strive to work in a manner safe to yourself and others and report any hazards immediately.
- Ensure all staff and visitors operates in compliance with Safety regulations
- Full responsibility for the safety of team members
- Actively participate in addressing Safety, Health and Environmental issues affecting the production areas, ensuring the relevant HSE checks are carried out.
- Full knowledge of the Plant Emergency Procedures and associated responses are required

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills & Experience
Qualifications
- An HND qualification (or equivalent) in a science discipline is advantageous.

- Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment is essential.
