Position Overview & Specifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Excellent track record of delivering results.
  • Extensive Experience leading commercial or business development organizations.
  • People management experience and ability to influence others.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Master’s or MBA degree from a reputed university.

We are looking for a senior leader to lead sales and business development for Amazon Freight business in Europe focused on large shippers business. You and your team will be responsible for selling Amazon Freight services to new shippers and managing and growing their business accounts. The successful candidate will be results driven, highly analytical, customer obsessed, and ready to roll up the sleeves to grow business. This is a senior leadership role with people management responsibilities of hiring and developing the business development team.

Key job responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
  • Define the business acquisition and development strategy.
  • Hire, develop and coach a team of business developers across levels.
  • Lead a team of business developers to deliver the business KPIs.
  • Leverage relationships to unlock new business opportunities.
  • Be the voice of the customer, and influence internal teams to solve for the customer's pain points.

A day in the life
  • Build relationships with our customers (shippers).
  • Coach and mentor business developers within the team.
  • Define business development KPIs targets and manage performance against these KPIs.
  • Dive deep into shippers' requirements and pain points to find solutions.

About the team
Amazon Freight (AF) is a B2B start-up within Amazon Transportation Services in Europe.
Amazon Freight allows external businesses ("shippers") to use Amazon’s transportation technology and network to transport products in bulk across Europe. This is an innovative technology-driven solution for the logistics needs of small and large businesses and is scaling rapidly as an offering.
The role sits within AF Commercial organization and partners with product and operations teams to deliver the commercial KPIs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working in transportation, freight or logistics industry.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-sufficient and able to operate in a fluid, ambiguous environment.
  • Knowledge of German or other EU languages is a plus.
