Laboratory Technician Support

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Laboratory Technician to work for a lovely organisation in Liverpool City Centre. The role is to support the housekeeping duties of the laboratories within the institute. This is a technical role supporting a large volume of varied activities, providing an effective and efficient technical service for staff and students. This is a temporary position for approximately 12 weeks.

Hours: 8am-4pm OR 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday

Duties:

• General tidiness, cleaning, and routine care of technical facilities and equipment
• Decontamination of biological waste
• Disposing of biological material and hazardous waste
• Change of gas cylinders
• Use of lab equipment including pH meters, dishwashers, water purification machines
• Carrying out the cleaning, sterilising of glassware using the glassware washer
• Laundry of laboratory coats and maintaining adequate stock of clean coats
• Defrosting of freezers/cleaning of fridges, when necessary
• Ensuring a constant supply of 70% ethanol/detergent for use in the laboratory
• Assisting with the cleaning of water baths, work surfaces, shelving, floors
• Occasionally assist with the preparation of media
• Assisting with maintaining stock levels, unpacking deliveries, and restocking shelves
• Recycling collection
