Position Overview & Specifications
- Providing direct support to the X-ray Department at Worthing Hospital
- Transferring patients between various areas of the hospital
- Ensuring the safe movement of medical equipment
- Transporting clinical waste and dangerous materials
- Transferring the deceased to the mortuary
- Collecting cylinders, moving beds.
- Understanding of Health and Safety and Environmental Regulations for safe transfer of patients and in general terms relating to visitors and staff.

- Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with Trust Policy.
- Communicate daily with all users regarding any variation in service that may be required. Using judgement to prioritise as necessary in consultation with the Portering and Waste Supervisor.
- Assess how to safely transport hospital equipment and utilise appropriate manual handling techniques
- Ability to transfer patients across site using various methods of transportation.
- Ability to transfer waste from source to point of storage
- Assess manual handling / risk prior to movement
- Understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Regulations
